75 Years Ago - Eileen's Diary - April 23, 1937

 75 Years Ago - Eileen's Diary - April 23, 1937

This entry is the daily post on this blog from the diary of eighteen year old Eileen KINNICK, 75 Years Ago this date.

Since midway through 2010, a weekly update/comments blog entry began to appear on the Dr. Bill Tells Ancestor Stories blog. Those weekly entries, on that blog, on each Tuesday of the week, will continue, with links to these daily entries.

Here is the short entry for Friday, April 23:

Warm but windy. Out to Helen's in pm. Getting ready to go to Carroll. Really did rain. Elmer & Helen to Carroll with us. Good time. Ate & danced at Lincoln. Home at 2:00. Slept. "Filipinos good!"

Here is the long entry for Friday, April 23:

Warm enough but kinda cloudy & windy. Card from "Sandy in Seattle." Up to Jeans awhile making out order. Out to Helen's after dinner. Talked about dance. She in to town with me. Up to school & Jean's. Home at 5:30. Washed, pressed dress & got ready for Carroll. Pete came at 8:30. Rained like the Dickens. Elmer & Helen went with us. Really had a good time. Ate & danced at the Lincoln. Home about 2:00. I slept most of the way.
"Filipinos really Good!"

My comments:  I assume the Lincoln was a dance club/restaurant on the Lincoln Highway, US 30, in Carroll. I suspect the "Filipinos" was a dance band… I could not find a reference of any kind.

Got this photo from a blog on the Lincoln Highway!  ;-)
