75 Years Ago - Eileen's Diary - April 12, 1937

 75 Years Ago - Eileen's Diary - April 12, 1937

This entry is the daily post on this blog from the diary of eighteen year old Eileen KINNICK, 75 Years Ago this date.

Since midway through 2010, a weekly update/comments blog entry began to appear on the Dr. Bill Tells Ancestor Stories blog. Those weekly entries, on that blog, on each Tuesday of the week, will continue, with links to these daily entries.

Here is the short entry for Monday, April 12:

Warm but windy. Washed the windows & really cleaned the store good. Typed. Decided to go to dance with Lunds. Good time for a stag dance. Harold S., Elmer (2), Orville, Dick, Leland, Squeak, Kenny P., Walter L. Home at 2:00. [added full names, later: Harold Slaybaugh; Elmer Lund (twice); Orville Pevestorf; Dick Pevestorf; Leland Davidson; Squeak Vanderloo; Kenny Pingrey; Walter Lauridsen.]

Here is the long entry for Monday, April 12:

[Monday, April 12 has a squggly around it. Not anniversary with Pete, wonder what it is?] Real nice & warm but windier then the dickens. Washed the window & really cleaned the store out good & proper. Another letter from Bud. Out home at dinner. All 3 of us. Went to Josie's after dinner. Did some typing & Bussy & I took the car home. Mrs. Lund & Jerry with us. Stopped at Lund's. Decided to go to the dance with them. Got ready. Took our car in. Swell time for a stag dance. Howard S., Elmer (3), Orville, Dick (2), Leland (2), Squeak, Kenny P., Walter L. Home about 2:00.

My comments: Didn't she just totally clean the shop on Saturday?? Think she was working off some frustration… perhaps because Pete was not feeling well, would not be going to the dance, I suspect. But, she decided to "go stag" anyway. It really sounds like her, working our her (often surprised) independent streak! Very interesting… trying to read between the lines!  OK, snooping, perhaps a better word!  ;-)
