75 Years Ago - Eileen's Diary - April 21, 1937

 75 Years Ago - Eileen's Diary - April 21, 1937

This entry is the daily post on this blog from the diary of eighteen year old Eileen KINNICK, 75 Years Ago this date.

Since midway through 2010, a weekly update/comments blog entry began to appear on the Dr. Bill Tells Ancestor Stories blog. Those weekly entries, on that blog, on each Tuesday of the week, will continue, with links to these daily entries.

Here is the short entry for Wednesday, April 21:

Jean & I bowling awhile. Bro't the radio over here. Typed till after 5:00. Went skating. Took Liz & Jean. With Bud riding. Made Maude & Doug A. wait on us. [Later added: to Liz: Elizabeth Welch; to Maude: Bud Boots sister Maude]

Here is the long entry for Wednesday, April 21:

The sun has nearly made its mind to come out. Very glad to get Bud's letter, & on the 1st mail. "Dearest Eileen." Wonder if I'm building up to an awful let-down?

Jean & I bowling awhile. I like it. Bussy ate at the bank. I brought the radio over here. Speedy fixed the aerial. Listened to Henry Busse. Dictation till after 5:00. Over talking to Edith till 6:00. Home with Dad. Ironed new red blouse. Wore it & gray skirt skating. Took Elizabeth & Jean K. with me. With Bud. Went riding in the V-8. Keen time. Made Maude & Doug wait on us.

My comments:  Let's see. She had a pen-pal, Bud - she divided the page, after notes on his letter. She went skating, and riding in the V-8 with another Bud. What is her world coming to?

Speedy Shirbroun was the radio repairman in town; he became the TV man in town, when televisions arrive in the late 1940s. I have lot of favorite stories on that, but will try to hold them in. He fixed her aerial on the radio. Did it look like this one?
