75 Years Ago - Eileen's Diary - April 30, 1937
This entry is the daily post on this blog from the diary of eighteen year old Eileen KINNICK, 75 Years Ago this date.
Since midway through 2010, a weekly update/comments blog entry began to appear on the Dr. Bill Tells Ancestor Stories blog. Those weekly entries, on that blog, on each Tuesday of the week, will continue, with links to these daily entries.
Here is the short entry for Friday, April 30:
Nice day. Got ready for dance. Came in to school to see the banquet. Pete called from town his car was broken. Took our Ford. Had a keen time. Banquet kids got there late. Gyped about a dozen kids.
Here is the long entry for Friday, April 30:
At last a nice day. Up early. Set my hair. Buzz & I bro't in the Ford. Wrote contest letters. Bussy & I out home to dinner. Leo came back to town with us. Read "Redbook" most of pm. Took car home. Got ready for dance. Came in to school to see banquet. Pete called from town - his car was broke. Took the Ford. Really had a keen time. Banquet kids got there for only a few dances. Gyped about a dozen kids. In town quite awhile before going home.
My comments: "Gyped about a dozen kids." I do not understand what that might have meant. Any ideas?
Will we hear about Pete's car any more?
Eileen had a cute "doodle" on the next page of her journal - used that as an excuse to show a sample of her writing that I am transcribing… ;-)
