75 Years Ago Today
Eileen's Diary
Jan 27, 1939
This entry is a post from the diary of my mother, twenty year old Eileen KINNICK, 75 Years Ago this date. She kept a diary from 1932 as a freshman in high school until she left us, too early, in 1999.
Now we are beginning 1939 - the year I was born, on July 1 - Bring it on! ;-)
Here is the daily entry for Friday, Jan 27:
Up late again. Pete up home to dinner. I made p. corn balls and cooked down some lard. Pete came at 3:00 and we went in to town with cream. Home & ate & chores early. Pete shaved and we went in to Coon Valley Conference Finals.
Glidden - Audubon
Bayard - Lake City
Coon beat Manning & won the Tourney 10-8. Really quite a game. Down home a minute. Home at 12:00. Ate our oranges & went to bed.
My comment: Let's look at the next week's Enterprise - has the story, and several more worth viewing...
