75 Years Ago - Eileen's Diary - August 5, 1937
This entry is the daily post on this blog from the diary of eighteen year old Eileen KINNICK, 75 Years Ago this date.
Since midway through 2010, a weekly update/comments blog entry began to appear on the Dr. Bill Tells Ancestor Stories blog. Those weekly entries, on that blog, on each Tuesday of the week, will continue, with links to these daily entries.
[August 1, 1937, at Ledges]
Here is the short entry for Thursday, August 5:
Hot. Tired. used Thomas adding machine. About went to sleep over it. Verna tired too. Went to bed really early.
Here is the long entry for Thursday, August 5:
Nother hot day. Was I ever tired. Used Thomas adding machine most all day. Most went to sleep over it. Verna tired too. Did up nite work & went to bed real early.
My comments: Thomas adding machine - another new name at new work at Light Plant.
I could not find an image of a "Thomas adding machine" but I found stories of Thomas Office Machines in the 1930s - Thomas got laid off by Remington Rand Typewriter and started to make his own.
Here is a new 1937 Monroe Adding-Calculating Machine that likely replaced the one she was using...
