75 Years Ago - Eileen's Diary - August 14, 1937

 75 Years Ago - Eileen's Diary - August 14, 1937

This entry is the daily post on this blog from the diary of eighteen year old Eileen KINNICK, 75 Years Ago this date.

Since midway through 2010, a weekly update/comments blog entry began to appear on the Dr. Bill Tells Ancestor Stories blog. Those weekly entries, on that blog, on each Tuesday of the week, will continue, with links to these daily entries.

[August 1, 1937, at Ledges]

Here is the short entry for Saturday, August 14:

Home in P.M. Scraped corn, took shower; sure missed Pete in town. He went to Cedar Falls. Such a Saturday Nite!

Here is the long entry for Saturday, August 14:

Up at 6:30. Worked in am. Finished posting so didn't go back after dinner. Cleaned upstairs & down, scraped 2 crocks of corn, went after the cows. Took a shower, cleaned up & Bussy & I took Ford in to town. He to show & I just plain missed Pete. He's in Cedar Falls. Hope he's OK. Only 2 nites & I just can't wait to see him. What a Saturday nite!

My comments: Oh, young love!  ;-) I still remember the feeling… al these many years later…  ;-)

She scraped the kernels of corn off the cob - 2 crocks of corn… lots of sraping!  ;-)

A pile of cobs, as well...  ;-)
