75 Years Ago Today
Eileen's Diary
Feb 11, 1939
This entry is a post from the diary of my mother, twenty year old Eileen KINNICK, 75 Years Ago this date. She kept a diary from 1932 as a freshman in high school until she left us, too early, in 1999.
Now we are beginning 1939 - the year I was born, on July 1 - Bring it on! ;-)
Here is the daily entry for Saturday, Feb 11:
Up late. Made 4 glasses of apple jell and burnt some sugar. In to town and got Bussy and Mom. Made a burnt sugar cake.
Helped Pete saw a pile of wood. Dad came out for supper. Played a game of checkers before they left and then Pete & I played rummy and pitch until 10:30. Listened to Horace Heidt. To bed at 11:00.
My comment: Her burnt sugar cakes were really good.
She helped Pete saw some wood. Neat! ;-)
Did her "4 glasses of apple jell" look like this, possibly??
Families are Forever! ;-)
