My comment: Good day. Interesting information.

This is Star Church, a few miles north of where they lived. They continued going there for many years. I was just a mile north of Pete's family's farm, of course.

An addition was added, later, but this is how it would have looked, at this time.

75 Years Ago Today

Mar 22, 1939

This entry is a post from the diary of my mother, twenty year old Eileen KINNICK, 75 Years Ago this date. She kept a diary from 1932 as a freshman in high school until she left us, too early, in 1999.

Here is the daily entry for Wednesday, Mar 22:

Pete up at 6:00. He went to work up home. Cleaned the house a little bit. Norma, Ruth, Gertrude, Cletus, Dora here to practice. Left at 4:30. Pete home at 5:00. Made choc. cookies while Pete chores. Cleaned up and went to Gertrude's & Victor's to S. S. meeting. LVene, Verle, Arnold, Julia, Don, Norma, Ruth, Glenn, Gertrude, Vic, Orley Browns there. Organized class, played cards and checkers & had lunch. Home at 1:00.

My comment:

This was the "young married couples" Sunday School Class at Star Methodist Church. They continued to hold these monthly meetings, in the evening, in different couples' homes for many years… long after they were "young marrieds!" Ruth and Glenn my future in-laws, of course. Ruth was pregnant with Nancy, just as Mom was pregnant with me… 33 days behind! ;-)

And, chocolate chip cookies…

Birthday note: Leo K.

Really a grand day. Pete finished hauling up the wood. Up the road after the calves. Finished the setter and put the hens in. Cleaned the house up a little bit. Ate, did dishes while Pete chored.

My comment:

Calves were out, again. Need some fence work, perhaps. Sounds like good weather to do it in, finally.

The "setter" now has hens in it… will get eggs in a couple of days…

Leo now lived out of town… so no party or celebration today. But, here he is, with car - may be a couple of years earlier, but don't think I've shared this image, recently! ;-)

Don't know which Eunice this might have been… one of the singers…  ;-)

Seed corn delivery pretty important for the farm for the spring!!

Birthday note: Ida Marie

Up in good time. Did usual work. Helped Pete saw a pile of wood. Ate, did dishes and went up to Thomases. Walked up the lane. Decided to meet LVene up there and go with her. Home and in to town awhile. Made pinecor (sic), chores, ate & went up there at 7:00. 12 boys had stag party while we went to Julia's shower at Helen Bower's. Julia, Edith, LVene, Garnet & I in Thomases car. Made lunch for boys and came home at 2:00.

My comment: Julia was marrying Arnold Thomas… series of events were a little hard to follow in her diary entires here for a couple of days. She tried to be descriptive. Obviously had "no idea" we would be trying to relive her experiences, as well!

"Helped Pete saw a pile of wood."... did it look like this???  ;-)
