75 Years Ago - Eileen's Diary - July 31, 1937
This entry is the daily post on this blog from the diary of eighteen year old Eileen KINNICK, 75 Years Ago this date.
Since midway through 2010, a weekly update/comments blog entry began to appear on the Dr. Bill Tells Ancestor Stories blog. Those weekly entries, on that blog, on each Tuesday of the week, will continue, with links to these daily entries.
Here is the short entry for Saturday, July 31:
Warm. Rained. Had V-8. To town with Leo. With Pete. Went home & changed clothes & went to Spring Lake dance. Keen dance. Verna there & Danced with Pete & Lew.
Here is the long entry for Saturday, July 31:
[Note along top: Almost ran off the rich once.]
In to work at 8:00. Real warm. Rained in p.m. Quit work about 5:00. Had V-8. Home early. Ate, cleaned up & went in to town with Leo & Bussy. With Pete. Out home & changed clothes for dance. Dad says he wishes I had corns; wouldn't be so crazy about dancing. Over to Pete's. The changed clothes. Left for Sp. Lake at 9:00. Keen dance. Verna there. Lew Clausen.
My comments: He Dad was very clever! Not! ;-)
Interesting how different clothes were required for dance at Spring Lake than for being in town! Any comments on that??? ;-)
Corns, anyone? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Callus#Corns

I haven't had corns on my feet since I quit wearing dress shoes a decade ago. I've also lost the corn on my "writing finger". It's amazing the difference it makes when you only wear sports shoes and sandals!
