75 Years Ago - Eileen's Diary - July 17, 1937
This entry is the daily post on this blog from the diary of eighteen year old Eileen KINNICK, 75 Years Ago this date.
Since midway through 2010, a weekly update/comments blog entry began to appear on the Dr. Bill Tells Ancestor Stories blog. Those weekly entries, on that blog, on each Tuesday of the week, will continue, with links to these daily entries.
Here is the short entry for Saturday, July 17:
[Added at top: Pete said he was ornery when he was little.]
Up late. Fire in range. 2 cakes & cookies. Fried chicken for dinner. Really cleaned downstairs in pm. Things look spic & span. Washed hair, got supper, did dishes, cleaned up & went to town. Buss to show. Car at fire house. Madalyn R. With Pete till 12:00.
Here is the long entry for Saturday, July 17:
[Added at top: Pete says he was awful ornery when he was little. Not possible.]
Slept late again. Nice and cool. Fire in the range. Made spice & chocolate cakes & oatmeal cookies. Fried chicken for dinner. Cleaned whole downstairs in afternoon. Washed my hair, got supper, cleaned up & got ready for town. Bussy went to the show. I did shopping & we started home. Saw Pete. He rode home with us, & we rode out on Betts road. Home early.
My comments: Yes. Home early. Midnight! ;-)
Spice cake, chocolate cake, and oatmeal cookies - I'll have the oatmeal cookies, thanks! ;-)
She always made great Spice Cake, as well... yummy! Have a piece! ;-)
