75 Years Ago - Eileen's Diary - July 14, 1937
This entry is the daily post on this blog from the diary of eighteen year old Eileen KINNICK, 75 Years Ago this date.
Since midway through 2010, a weekly update/comments blog entry began to appear on the Dr. Bill Tells Ancestor Stories blog. Those weekly entries, on that blog, on each Tuesday of the week, will continue, with links to these daily entries.
Here is the short entry for Wednesday, July 14:
Sultry. Slept. Rained. Took rugs to cover combine. Cars stuck in oat field. Went to town. Helen B., Helen J., Jean, Pete. Boys got ice cream. Rode. Good time after we hot started.
Here is the long entry for Wednesday, July 14:
Sultry. Did up the usual work. Cleaned & fired chicken for dinner. Slept before Noon & afternoon. I'm really getting to be a sleepy head. Rained about 4:00. Carried rugs down to combine. Sat in truck during most of it. Both cars stuck. Fixed my hair, made doughnuts, did up nite wk & went to town. With Helen B., Jean K., & Helen Jensen 'till 9:00. Did shopping & saw Pete. Boys got quart of ice cream & we went riding to pool in the V-8. I have a mean cole sore. Pete & I not doing too well to begin with. Talked it over when we got alone & things progressed nicely until 1:00, when we had to say goodbye. "You know I should be getting you an engagement ring" - - - - - -
My comments: How about that last line. I'd say that is progress.. 'cole' sore or not!! ;-)
Left over from yesterday - rumble seat! ;-)
Families are Forever! ;-)
