Here is the daily entry for Tuesday, March 22:
2 eggs
Up early. Pete up to Smith's to dinner. I scrubbed the kitchen and waxed it. LVene here awhile after school. I drove car out to the field after the cows.
[3 lines of shorthand]
In town at 8:00 to my shower at Priscillas. Got a lamp, fiesta, lunch cloth, cake cover, canister set, Kleinert's tops, baby booties. Pete asleep at the folks.
[2 more lines of shorthand]
My comments: I suspect the shorthand represented some frustrations. What do you think?
Nice that they had a shower for her. Nice gifts. What fiesta do you suppose?
