75 Years Ago - Eileen's Diary - May 3, 1937
This entry is the daily post on this blog from the diary of eighteen year old Eileen KINNICK, 75 Years Ago this date.
Since midway through 2010, a weekly update/comments blog entry began to appear on the Dr. Bill Tells Ancestor Stories blog. Those weekly entries, on that blog, on each Tuesday of the week, will continue, with links to these daily entries.
Here is the short entry for Monday, May 3:
Rainy. Leo to Tilton & Guthrie. Went to sleep on Studio Couch. After my hair dried I went upstairs to bed.
Here is the long entry for Monday, May 3:
Another rainy day but not so cold. I drove car home. Washed my hair & then back after Dad. Ate early. Leo to Tilton Guthrie. Went to sleep on studio couch about 7:30. After my hair dried I went upstairs to bed.
My comments: I did find a "Tilton & Guthrie" reference for the period:
“amateur contest sponsored by Tilton & Guthrie Players.” 1936-37 reference in;
An excerpt from The History of Stacyville, Iowa: 1856-2006• By Cheryl Mullenbach, 2006 (pdf)

I found a photo of a trio of ladies in 1937 who entered an amateur talent contest, the Blue Bonnet Girls - see their story.
