75 Years Ago - Eileen's Diary - March 30, 1937

 75 Years Ago - Eileen's Diary - March 30, 1937

This entry is the daily post on this blog from the diary of eighteen year old Eileen KINNICK, 75 Years Ago this date.

Since midway through 2010, a weekly update/comments blog entry began to appear on the Dr. Bill Tells Ancestor Stories blog. Those weekly entries, on that blog, on each Tuesday of the week, will continue, with links to these daily entries.

Here is the short entry for Tuesday, March 30:

Ripped Dad's pants for suit. Typed for Dr. Gertrude. Rode with Bill Mt. Bk nite "Society Dr." At S.S. Cafe. Pete in pm. He finally went to dentist. [Arrow to Bill - Maude Mountain's Dad] [Arrow to Ripped: Made suit out of Dad' old one for me.]

Here is the long entry for Tuesday, March 30:

Didn't have a bit of trouble getting up & not a bit tired all day. Nice out. Ripped dad's pants in am. [Note added: made me a suit to of his] Typed for Dr. Gertrude in pm. Made an extra dollar. Got Crack Jax, rode out with Bill Mt. in new Plymouth. Walked rest of the way. Ate early, I did dishes & then came in to Bk Nite with the folks. Rt Taylor in "Society Dr." Really keen. With Edith, Harold J., Thruman & Erna & Yippy at S. Side Cafe after. Had a coke. Took boys home & then went home with the folks.
"Snoozies"
Pete here in pm. - Went to see the dentist finally.

My comments: Very frugal to use an old suit to make a new suit. Depression was not that distant!  ;-)

Society Doctor was a 1935 movie - one of the stars was Robert Taylor.

Plymouth was only car that built a million cars in the first six years of existence.
