It was more like a small room and had shelves to the ceiling. We lived far away and one of the first things that I did when we visited was to open the door to her pantry, stick my head in and take a deep breath. It had a wonderful smell that was a mixture of all the wonderful things that she kept in that pantry. She bottled everything from her garden and the shelves were lined with her beautiful bounty. It's funny because all these many years later, when I talk with my cousins, they also always mention Grandma's pantry and that they too always opened the door to the pantry and smelled it.
